Education Book Discussion Featuring George Leef
May 26, 2022, 2:30 pm–4:00 pm
On Thursday, May 26th, the Martin Center will host a webinar with its director of editorial content, George Leef, to discuss his first novel, The Awakening of Jennifer Van Arsdale. A Q&A session for attendees will follow the presentation.
The novel’s setting is the American political scene in the near future. The country has been under complete “progressive” domination for more than eight years and the erosion of freedom has accelerated. Free speech is besieged, the rule of law is but a memory, and the education system is far more concerned with correct ideology than with knowledge and skills.
The Awakening of Jennifer Van Arsdale contains much of Leef’s thinking about what has gone wrong with education in the U.S., as well as the roots of our economic and social ills.
From a reader’s review: “Whether you are just curious why it seems our liberties are being eroded, or you are a hard-core Christian Conservative Libertarian follower of Austrian Economics, this compact book belongs on your bookshelf alongside Hayek’s Road to Serfdom and Hazlett’s Economics in One Lesson. If you have already read Ayn Rand’s famous tome Atlas Shrugged, you will find George Leef’s book by comparison to be a fast-pace romp through the man-caused disasters of the 21st century left and the timeless truth of the great thinkers of free-market economics and true liberalism.”
